Historical decline in temperature in the Caribbean: For the first time in Cuba's history, temperatures have dropped to zero degrees Celsius. A meteorological station in the province of Matanza in the north of the tropical island recorded a temperature around the zero-degree freezing point, the meteorological news service Insmet reported on Facebook. It's the lowest temperature ever recorded in the Caribbean nation filled with sun.
The Matanza weather center even reported areas covered by frosts a very unusual phenomenon considering the typical high temperatures of Cuba. The previous record temperature of 0.5 degrees Celsius was registered in 1996.
According to Insmet, the last drop in temperature was due to a strong cold front that brought polar air masses from the north of the American continent to the Caribbean.

Constant low temperatures in the United States
Numerous US states are currently experiencing an unusual wave of cold. Snow and freezing temperatures have also hit countries that usually have much softer winters, including North Carolina and Georgia. In Florida, commonly considered the State of Sun, the cold even caused the iguana to fall from the trees. These animals are cold - blooded; their body temperature fluctuates with the temperature of the environment. In extreme cold, iguana become insensitive.
Last Tuesday, the Poonxsutaune Phil, the famous covenant, saw its shadow at the “Marmusha day”. According to tradition, this means that another six winter weeks are on the way. As each year, thousands of spectators gathered in the small town of Ponxsutauney, Pennsylvania, in the early morning hours of February 2nd to witness the rodent weather forecast.
Weather forecasters predict extremely low persistent temperatures in many parts of the United States, especially in the Northeast and along the East Coast, following two successive heavy winter storms. /Periscope/
