A case of school violence has been seen at the school “Independence” in Pristina. Teacher Abbas Kadriu has recorded violence against a student in school environments and in front of other students. Kadriu was detained for 48 hours by Kosovo police.
In this incident, the SFMU Union Association “Independence”, the School Steering Council and the Parents' Council have announced that on February 10, 2026, starting at 8: 00 a.m., teachers will be present at school, but the first two classes will not be taught because of holding a protest.
Protest organisers make it known that its goal is to respond to the students' deliquent actions in the educational and educational process, including physical violence, insults, insults and insults against teachers. Such actions, they say, seriously violate the professional authority, security, and dignity of teachers, and they damage the education process.
The statement points out that this is not an isolated case but a disturbing phenomenon in many schools. Through this protest, the parties aim to raise their voices and seek serious institutional and social commitment to the prevention and responsible treatment of these cases.
According to the announcement, the learning process will continue normally after the completion of the first two hours, from the third hour, respectively, under regular schedules.
