Session in The Hague: Today the final word of the defense of Kadri Wessel

Lawyer Rodney Dixon said yesterday that Kadri Wessel is mentioned over 260 times in the SPS's final file, but in no case is argued that his client has committed deeds he is accused of. The final word of Wessel's defence team has started after the conclusion of the final statements by lawyers of former President Hashim Thaci.
His lawyer, Luka Misetiq, said in The Hague Specialised Chambers it is time for Hashim Thaci to be released and return to his family.
He has called it a non-serious preview, the request of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office for a 45-year prison sentence for four of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).
Severe criticism of the SPS had a lawyer, Pierre Richard Prosper, as regards statements of international witnesses. He has said the prosecution has claimed that seven defence witnesses had no deep knowledge, nor did they know the KLA structure.
Prosper in the 15-minute statement said it shows arrogance, disrespect and ignorance.
Final words in the biggest court process in The Hague Specialised Chambers have begun Monday with statements by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office.
This also marks the final stage in which the parties can eventually refer to the court with the statements for the process.
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are facing charges brought by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, which they have described as groundless. Even the defence has dismissed these charges and argued the KLA had no organised command structure.
The trial against them has begun on April 3, 2023, nearly three years after confirming the indictment since former KLA leaders are held at The Hague detention centre. /Periscopi
