It has been about a month since the three power operators demanded increased electricity tariffs.
KEDS, KESCO, and COSTT, weeks ago, addressed the Electricity Regulatory Office, with demand that electricity prices be changed.
This call seems to still be in the process of ERE reviewing.
“assessment of these applications is under way and is being carried out by ZRRE experts, through detailed technical and financial analysis, in line with the legal and regulatory framework in force. After completing the assessment, the respective reports and tax proposals will be published and subject to further procedures, including public consultation, prior to taking any final” decision, said by the ZRE for Tvve1.
But what is expected to be the ZERE's decision?
The energy regulator's office will have no choice but to once again raise electricity tariffs, consumers of the Republic of Kosovo”, says Adorim Haxhimusa-expert of energy.
Even according to energy expert Adorim Haxhimusa, this is happening because of some trouble in KEK energy production.
“Rating the cost of electricity at 2025 is also the result of the renovation of a Kosovo bloc B. This bloc was long out of office, and Kosovo was forced to import electricity more than once this bloc was operational”, Haxhimusa estimates.
Electricity tariff increases are expected by group “not a cent more”.
But if that happens, protests are expected.
“We are in discussions about the measures or steps that we will take as civic initiatives to oppose this decision because we know there will be big consequences, whether for people or for businesses living and working these people. And normally, we will not be silent, protests and other activities are also in order to oppose this” decision, says Luan Hasanaj.
K E SCO has urged more than 20 per cent of electricity tariffs for 2026, calling for increased operational costs and the need for sustainable power supply insurance.
