Police: Cause of highway accidents during January 2026, over 6 thousand fines pronounced

The Highway Control Unit has held continued activities during January 2026, with the aim of increasing traffic safety and prevention of road accidents.

According to the Police report, a total of 68 traffic accidents have been recorded this month, of which 40 with material damage and 28 bodily injuries. Compared to the same period of the preceding year, there has been a reduction in accidents by 6.8 percent.

Also, 6,709 fines for violations of traffic regulations have been imposed during police activities. Police have confiscated 5 vehicles, have removed 18 other vehicles from circulation, while 44 drivers have been denied vehicle guidance.

Police authorities call for respect of traffic regulations, stressing that controls will continue in the days ahead. /Periscopi/
