The Democratic Party of Kosovo has reacted after the Special Court's request to be appointed from 45 years in prison to four former KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.
According to the PDK, what has been said from the beginning has been confirmed and that with this approach, the prosecution is aiming at equalising the victim to the aggressor by trying to build a false narrative.
“Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are not being tried as individuals separated from the historical context, but as symbols of resistance, liberation and statehood in Kosovo. This approach of the Prosecutor aims at equalizing the victim to the aggressor and criminalizing the war for freedom. It was confirmed today by applying for absurd sentences that reflect only political and selective punishment.
Also, the effort to link Kosovo's declaration of independence with a criminal claim is unacceptable and conflicts with fundamental principles of international law.
