At the Constitutional Court in Pristina, court hearings have been launched against former head of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Nagip Krasniqi, accused of misusing official office.
At the session, held on January 15th, Prosecutor Firkiye Feyzullahu stated that after the test management, complete clarification of the actual situation and the trial trial of the accused will be achieved.
She stressed that Krasniqi, without contracts or legal authorisations, had asked for instructions and references from accused Isuf Zeynep over KEK's tenders, and had illegally authorised Dejona Mihalin to give opinions and decisions on them.
According to the prosecutor, the purpose and desire to commit criminal acts and damage inflicted on KEK and Kosovo citizens will be proven.
Meanwhile, Krasniqi's defender, lawyer Vyrtyt Ibrahimaga, has said the prosecution is dramatising the accused's actions, which he says are merely managerial actions.
He stressed that the objective elements of the criminal act have not been met, as no one has illegally benefited or been damaged.
The defence said Krasniqi has always acted in the company's interest and to fulfil tasks on record terms.
Krasniqi himself has singled out the indictment as mounted and stressed that his five-month stay in custody is unfair.
According to the indictment, he, along with Ymer Dragush and Isuf Zamen, is accused of damaging the state budget by about 37m euros.
The Constitutional Court on April 23rd 2025 had partially approved the defence request, throwing the indictment for “State Secret display”, while the rest were re-qualified in “The Appeals Court has confirmed the indictment and has decided that the criminal procedure for five criminal acts against Krasniqi will continue according to the procedure's provisions.
