During the conference, representatives of the platform expressed special thanks to the mayors, who have so far hosted representatives of “Freedom has the name”, have expressed public support and are actively engaged in civic mobilization in their municipalities.
It was stressed that this institutional co-operation is evidence of the seriousness with which this cause is being addressed and responsibility for a crucial moment for the country.
In his address, Ismail Tasholli stressed the importance of this mobilization at a key phase of the process in The Hague.
The support of mayors and their active involvement in mobilization shows that this issue is being treated as the common civic and national interest”, Tasholli has said.
“We are in the crucial week ahead of the final phase of the process in The Hague, and at this point, silence is not neutrality, but lack of position”, he added.
He added that the February 17th march will be peaceful, dignified and inclusive, and that it is not organised against anyone but in defense of Kosovo's dignity, truth and sacrifice on which freedom is built.
In the second part of the conference, Eliza Hoxha spoke of the social and moral dimension of this mobilization, stressing that justice cannot be cut off from historical truth.
“Justice cannot be read without context and without clear distinction between aggressor and victim”, Hoxha said.
The February 17th March is a civic, calm and dignified voice, of a society that does not accept unjust narrativa and imposed silence”, she added.
She pointed out that this march belongs to citizens, families of martyrs and missing persons, young people, intellectuals, workers, and all those who believe in dignity and justice, and that the thus - to - date support, coming from various municipalities and from the diaspora, testifies to a broad civic awareness.
The “Liria has the name” it announced that in the coming days it will continue with meetings, visits to municipalities, co-ordination with civil society and regular public communication, intensifying mobilization for the wider participation in the “Justice, not politics”, on February 17th in Pristina.
Finally, this mobilization was renewed as a call for justice and dignity built on respect, calmness and full awareness of the historical weight of the moment.
