DP protest, American Embassy in Tirana appears with warning

The U.S. Embassy in Tirana has warned American citizens about the planned protest of the Democratic Party, which will be held on Saturday at 6600, on “Nation's witnesses”, between Square “Skenderbej” and Square “Mother Teresa”

As Euronews.al reports, protesters are expected to initially gather near the prime minister's building, but demonstrations could spread on the surrounding streets. State police have warned that several intersections could be blocked and increased police presence, road closures and traffic cuts during the protest hours are expected.

The US Embassy has advised American citizens and its staff to avoid the demonstration area and follow local authorities' instructions. In the meantime, citizens are advised to keep on the watch, to be careful about the environment, and to have an emergency plan or exit strategy from crowded areas.

The embassy's announcement stresses that even though the protests often begin peacefully, the situation may change quickly, and this could cause jams, deviations, and disruptions.

Citizens are warned to avoid using telephones or headphones that can distract attention and continually follow local media for updated information.
