The Hague's Specialised Prosecutor's Office has announced that on Tuesday prosecutors will be needed less than two hours to reveal the criminal responsibilities of the accused, while in the end specialised prosecutor Kimberly West will hold the summary word.
Yesterday, West announced that the Specialised Prosecutor's Office requires Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi be sentenced to 45 years in prison each, or a total of 180 years in prison.
During the prosecution's final statement, prosecutor Nathan Quick said Ademi Demaci had a limited role in establishing institutions, but, according to him, he was subordinate to Hashim Thaci.
Quick added that, along with the political role, Kadri Wessel also had the post of intelligence chief.
On the first day, specialised prosecutors spoke of the role the four accused in the Kosovo Liberation Army had, presenting the organisation as a structure with clear hierarchy.
Otherwise, the issue includes four former senior Kosovo Liberation Army officials: Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
According to the indictment, it is alleged that the crimes submitted in it were committed at least from March 1998 to September 1999 at some locations in Kosovo, as well as in Kukes and Cahan, in northern Albania.
On December 15, 2022, the Judge of Preemptive Procedure passed the case file to the Judicial Chamber II.
The trial began on April 3rd 2023 with the opening statements of the Specialised Prosecutor and the representative of the victims, followed by defence teams on April 4th and April 5th 2023.
On April 15, 2025, Z. The SP closed its case. In his oral decision on 16 July 2025, the Judicial Chamber rejected the joint defence motion to drop charges under the 130 rule of order. On July 16th and July 17, 2025, the Victims Protector presented evidence in court.
The Defence Preparation Conference was held on 19 August 2025, and the presentation of evidence and arguments from defence began on September 15th 2025, where only Hashim Thaci and Jakup Krasniqi's defence teams presented evidence.
On December 2nd, 2025, both defence teams completed presenting their evidence, while on December 18, 2025, the testing presentation procedure was closed.
In this court case there are 155 participating victims.
