The hearing that lasted all day, with doors closed in New York, included questions to the former president about his involvement in newly published files related to the financer, including a photograph where he appears with an unidentified person in a hot water tub, reports the BBC.
His testimony came a day after his wife, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, told the committee that she too “had no idea” for Epstein's crimes.
Being mentioned in the file represents no indication of wrongdoing, and none of the Clintons have been charged with indecent behaviour by Epstein's survivors who have gone public so far.
Clinton said he would have cut off relations with Epstein and never flew on his plane if “had any doubts about what he was doing.
I would have denounced it myself,” he said in the opening statement published prior to his testimony.
After witnessing in New York, he published a video that essentially repeated his opening statement, saying he had no knowledge of Epstein's crimes “despite how many pictures they show with me”
When my testimony video is published today, I hope it will motivate everyone to appear before Congress to say what I know,” said Clinton. “I hope he'll motivate the Justice Department to finally publish all the files and make sure this never happens again. Survivors deserve this. ”
Both he and his wife had earlier rejected forced calls from the panel, describing them as politically motivated before they agreed to testify before the House of Representatives Supervisory Committee as possible procedures for ignoring Congress weighed upon them.
When asked about the picture showing the former president resting in a tub of hot water with a woman whose face was black to protect the identity of Clinton told lawmakers that she did not know him. When asked if he had sex with his wife, he said no, according to a BBC source.
Unlike his wife, Clinton did not go out to talk to reporters after his testimony ended.
