Alarm number of traffic deaths, Hoxha: For 26 years, 3111 lost their lives

Kosovo Police General Director Gazmend Hoxha, in presenting the annual work of Pristina's regional police, has said that between 2000 and today on the streets of Kosovo, over 3 thousand people have lost their lives. Problems that have marked growth are cases of fatality and not only in Pristina, but [...]

The problems that have marked the increase are cases of fatalities and not only in Pristina, but throughout Kosovo we have had increased cases in traffic, where we have had over 100 people dead in traffic from 89 to 2024. Kosovo has lost more than 3,000 and 111 people in traffic since 2,000 to this day. There's a large number of lives lost in traffic and one of the priorities has been traffic safety. But that the police can't do this job alone, we need the support of municipalities, the infrastructure ministry and the whole society, especially the awareness of people, then until the driver's license, increased control on the street”, he said, Online Economy, broadcast Periscope.

He has counted some of the factors that have contributed to more traffic problems, one of which highlights being a large number of people who have visited Kosovo. Here he also mentions patent statistics.

Some of the factors that tend to have more traffic problems over the course of the year have been the large number of people that have circulated on our roads, and also the large number of people who entered Kosovo's borders have had a million increases. We had 2-3 million going into our territory. The number of registered cars and the driver's license has also increased. In 2011, Kosovo had about 400,000 driver patents somewhere, today we have 900 thousand”, Hoxha said.

The decline in cases in Pristina was estimated to have been in murder, robbery and serious theft, and domestic violence. /Periscope
