Vote recount continues for parliamentary candidates, expected to end next week

Recounting of votes for MPs who competed in the December 28th elections is continuing after major manipulations were identified.

The Central Election Commission announced yesterday that 1,500 of the 2,557 seats have been re-counted at the Counting and Results Centre.

With 1500 locations counted, the recount process in 22 municipalities has been completed.

The “in the Counting and Results Centre is continuing to tally the balloting list for which the CEC has made a decision to recount. From the beginning of this process (c. Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, 18:00) and so far (Saturday, January 24, 2026, 1600) have been recounted over 58% or 1,500 of the 2,557 seats”, the CEC reports.

While the spokesman for this institution, Valmir Elezi, said the CEC “is trying to completely close at a fast time to recount all remaining locations so as to proceed with announcing the final result of early elections for the Kosovo Assembly”.

“The CEC plans that the process of recounting all locations be completed during the following week”.

Due to manipulations, the prosecution in Prizren arrested 109 commissioners. For 21 of them, commissioners, detention has been sought for the criminal offence of voting results, a commissioner is charged with two criminal acts, counterfeiting the outcome of the vote and taking the bribe, and an observer is charged with two criminal acts, deportation and bribery./Periscopi/
