Tourism in 2025, Kosovo keeps us, “mad at” Italians, come Germans and French

Kosovo Albanians remained the main group of tourists in the country even during 2025, marking 4.66 million entrances. Their weight against the total 12.4 million inflows was 37.4 percent again, pointing to the contribution of patriotic tourism in our country. Official data of groups having [...]
Official data from groups that have visited Albania, according to the Citizens' Movement published by INSTAT, shows that Italians remained the second most important group with 1.29 million entry in the year we left behind.
This marks a 3.17 percent increase in the year 2017. What is noted is a marked slowdown in this group's growth, as in 2024 compared with the 2023 increase was 31.5 percent. Tourists said during 2025 that a fainting of Italians especially during the summer was apparent, and this was related to the fact that they no longer considered Albania a vacation free country. The extent of certain areas where this group focused on holidays such as the southern part of Albania caused many to cancel bookings or change their destination, writes Monitor. al, broadcast Periscope.
However, they remain an important group for annual tourism, preferring weekend visits to Tirana or Durres, as well as the rest of the country, and increasingly exploring the country's culinary and rural parts initiated by the fact that we still remain one of the lowest-priced countries in restaurants.
In decline during the past year were the Polish people. Tourist operators stress that this decline does not come from organised tourism, which over the years has been on the rise, and that the contracts are also increasing in 2025. The decline comes from individual tourists who, under the wide promotion Albania received the last three years, decided to explore alone. Last year there were 288 thousand Poles, which make up only 2.8 percent of the total weight of tourists. Also in decline were tourists from Turkey and Spain during 2025.
Growing Groups
Germany and France are the two growing tourist groups in our country, and this is expected to remain the same this year. Official data shows that last year the Germans had a 17.27 percent increase, marking a total of 452 thousand entrances.
This is a group of tourists coming in individual but especially organised in cultural tours, but also during the summer. The increase to France was 25.39 percent a year ago, marking 293 thousand. France is expected to continue the increase even this year, even for the first time, tourist operators brokered with the accommodation facilities to bring guarantees contracts in place this summer.
Increasingly, there are entrances from the United States, where 241,000 entrances were registered in 2025 with an increase of about 8 percent in previous year.
Albania is also under way this year a widespread promotion in international media and social media, but this promotion is not of the size the country has had in the last three years. The exposure of tourism problems on social networks from visitors to Albania seems to have made except for the most beautiful part of Albania foreigners have reservations about the problems they have particularly faced in waste, infrastructure, abandoned animals, prices and not as economic expectations as well.
During 2026 tourism operators expect growth to continue as far as visitors are concerned, but attention must be turned to taking measures to ensure long-term stability. Slowing growth year after year is a signal that measures must be taken are urgent. /Periscope
