Mirjana Pajković, director of Human Rights Promotive and Protection, and Dejan Vukcevic, former director of the National Security Agency, have been forced to resign following the distribution of material on social networks, causing a storm of anger in the government.

Pajkovic and Vukshiić resigned within weeks of each other, following the distribution of inappropriate material that Pajkov is supposed to show by committing sexual acts with Vukshiić, who is married.

In a statement, Pajković encouraged “each woman” to object to the idea that they should remain silent for such situations and accused Vukšić of blackmailing with the video, which she said she did not know until her distribution.

She added that her departure was for personal reasons, but accused Vukcevic of threatening the video, forcing her to keep her mouth shut. According to Pajković, Vukši threatened with compensation if she does not accept his demands.

Both sides have denied the charges and filed criminal complaints. Pajkovic has filed a complaint about the unauthorized distribution of inappropriate materials, including a photo of it. She has also claimed to have received threats from a fixed line within the president's office.

In a recorded message, a voice is said to have warned that “across Montenegro will see” the material compromising Pajković.

After the distribution of the materials, Vukshiić resigned in late December, also citing personal reasons. He denied any responsibility for violating Pikov's privacy and distributing controversial videos, stressing that he saw the material for the first time only when he began to circulate illegally on social networks.

Vukcevic also accused Pajkov of stealing the telephone he was supposed to have recorded his threats and of blackmailing him to withdraw his candidacy for the Constitutional Court's post.

While it still remains unclear who published the sex video, the distribution of revenge pornography is a serious crime in Montenegro. Those who are found guilty may face sentences of up to five years in prison.
