Iran War: 18 American soldiers killed and 624 wounded

The U.S. Department of Defense announced that 18 American military officers have been killed and 624 have been injured since the start of the conflict with Iran.

The Pentagon has updated official data on the United States' losses in the Iran war, suggesting that 18 American military officials have been killed so far and another 624 have been injured.

According to CNN, the update released on Saturday adds more than 140 soldiers injured in the official balance, while returning four soldiers killed in Iranian attacks whose names were previously removed from statistics.

The new figures refer to the period since 28 February, when Washington launched military operations against Iran.

The changes come after last week the American Department of Defence Loss Analysis System (DCAS) reported a decrease in the number of victims, despite the continuation of Iranian attacks, prompting questions and reactions from American lawmakers.

Twelve democratic senators, members of the Senate Commission for Armed Forces, sent a letter to US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth asking for clarifications on the changes in official data.

The Pentagon stated that statistics fluctuations were caused by “temporary disruption of data” on the DCAS website.

The update also includes a new category called “Operations Out of Place”, which registers losses starting on July 7th, although the Pentagon has not clarified which conflict this category refers to.

This date coincides with President Donald Trump's administration's stance that the new conflict with Iran officially began on July 7th for the purposes of implementing the Act for War Competences (War Powers Act).
