(an hour ago)At the Constitutional Court in Pristina, court hearings for Jovan and Dragisa Viqejjevic will be held today, accused of involvement in the terrorist attack on Iber-Lepenci Canal, which took place in November 2023.
The two accused have been acquitted of charges weighing on them, as they were at the initial session.
According to the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, evidence gathered during the investigation testifies to the involvement of the accused in the criminal acts they are charged with.
The prosecution has declared that investigations have also highlighted the role of the Government of Serbia in preparing the attack.
The prosecution has announced that weapons, ammunition, military equipment, communication tools and other material evidence have been seized during the investigation. Also, according to her, forensic analysis, including DNA examinations and other expertise, links the accused to the site.
On the other hand, the defence has rejected the prosecution's claims, demanding the court's objective examination of the case and arguing that the indictment does not clearly outline their clients' concrete actions.
Jovan and Dragisa Viqjjetevic, along with Igor Dimovic, are accused of jeopardising constitutional order, conducting terrorist work and illegal weapons. Meanwhile, Jovan Viqef faces the spying charge.
The attack on the Iber-Lepenci Canal, conducted in the village of Zubin-Potok in November 2023, caused damage to one of the most important infrastructure for water supply and electricity in Kosovo. Today's session is expected to continue with presenting evidence and examining the arguments of the parties.
