Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine is willing to “bite the hand it feeds”, referring to the criticism made by Zelensky to the European Union during its speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
In an interview for State Television Rossiya 1, Peskov said that Kiev's “regime is ready to bite everyone”, adding that this behavior shows, according to him, the Ukrainian leadership's true attitude towards international partners.
The Kremlin's statements come at a moment of increased diplomatic tension, following Zelensky's criticism that Europe is not acting decisively enough in the face of Russian aggression and Ukraine's support.
Moscow and Kiev remain in open political and rhetorical clashes, while war and its aftermath continue to affect relations between Russia, Ukraine and the West.
