Prince Harry: Army sacrifices in Afghanistan deserve respect

This statement comes after US President Donald Trump claimed NATO allies stayed away from front lines in conflict.

As a reminder, Prince Harry was twice sent to Afghanistan during his 10-year military career.

In 2001, NATO called Article 5 for the first and only time in history. That meant that each ally nation was obliged to stay with the United States in Afghanistan in pursuit of our common security. The Allies responded to this” call, he said.

I served there. There I made friends for the rest of my life. And that's where I lost friends. Only the United Kingdom was killed by 457 soldiers”, the Prince added.

My friends changed their lives forever. Mothers and fathers buried their sons and their daughters. The children were left without a parent. Families remain at the cost of”, he continued.
