The PDK's announcement says that “at a time when our citizens are facing steady price increases, lower wages and increasingly higher living costs -- such an increase in energy tariffs deepens the social and economic crisis in the country”.
Under this political subject, this decision brings additional uncertainty, increasing poverty, and serious violation of the welfare of households that, according to the PDK, are already at the borders of financial survival.
The PDK has considered any efforts to transfer the burden of mismanagement and failures to the energy sector over citizens unacceptable.
“Electric energy is a basic need and its treatment as such is institutional obligation. For these reasons, The PDK strongly opposes any proposal for increased electricity tariffs and calls on the Government of Kosovo and the Energy Regulatory Office to reject these requirements and act in defense of public interest and Kosovo citizens”, it says in response.
“The Democratic Party of Kosovo will continue with its commitment to whitewashing relatives in the energy sector, boosting institutional accountability, and protecting citizens from policies that burden their daily lives”.
Otherwise, during today the power supply company K ESCO has handed over to the Energy Regulatory Office ( ZRGE, a requirement for increased electricity tariffs by 21.3 percent for 2026.
