The decision was made public after the signing of an executive order by President Donald Trump, a year after criticising the organisation for excessive focus on China during the Codov-19 pandemic.
The U.S. Department of Human Health and Services argued the withdrawal was due to the alleged “mismanagement” of pandemic by WHO, lack of reforms and political influence by member states.
O The BSH dismissed these claims, and its general director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebrreesus, said the US withdrawal is a loss to the country and to the world in global public health efforts.
