On the other hand, the head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardi, raised the question of why it is urgent to review this draft Peace Board law 12 hours after the Council of Ministers passed it in the Assembly.
According to him, the Assembly at the Council of Ministers' request could review and adopt a draft law with accelerated procedure, but not a week before the screening procedure. He addressed Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi that the Constitution has thus determined.
“The citizens heard the drafting but heard no word of where Albania's haste to complete this process today. In 10 minutes of talk about what reason and where the urgency of review of this historical important bill lies, the colleague said. 140 MPs must vote 12 hours in total after arriving by the Council of Ministers. Did you hear any arguments? You can't put in and do propaganda, you can't fuck around with the United States and come up with historical achievements when a few years ago you called US President the shame of humanity”, he said.
Peace Board
The Peace Board will be established as an international organisation with international judicial personality, with the mission promoting stability, restoring legitimate governance and ensuring lasting peace in territories affected or threatened by conflict. His activity will be carried out in accordance with international law.
The statement stresses that Albania's participation in Bord represents a development of particular importance for foreign policy and local diplomacy. Albania is projected to have the status of the founding member, which gives an active and equal role in shaping vision, principles and decision-making architecture to the Board.
The government argues that this status significantly increases Albania's international profile and positions the country as a factor of stability and peace actor, especially in processes aimed at resolving multi-year conflicts, including the Middle East. The document also names this development as confirmation of the strategic partnership with the US.
