Speaking of the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh's territory, Trump said he had brought peace by inviting leaders of both countries to the White House and making them sign a commitment agreement.
However, during his statement he called Armenia “Albania” and Azerbaijan “Aberbagian”, reportsnews.sky.
This is the third time in the last few weeks Trump confused the name of a state during his public speeches.
Armenia and Azerbaijan were involved in the conflict for Nagorno-Karabakh for nearly four decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, which was part of both.
In 2020, after decades of interrupted clashes, Azerbaijan launched a military operation that turned into the Second Karabakh War.
And finally in 2023, Azerbaijan regained full control of the territory, causing the massive evacuation of Armenians from the region. /Periscope/
