On the eve of this challenge, Swiss national team coach Murat Yakin, and player Dan Ndollye appeared in front of the media, where they clearly determined expectations for the match and for the qualifying campaign, writes Blick.ch, follows Periscope.
“adjacents at home are to gain”, Yakin firmly declared, setting the tone for the challenge to be played at 20:45. After a disappointing period in the League of Nations and friendly matches held during spring and summer, the Swiss coach shows up optimistic about the team's performance in the coming weeks.
Switzerland faces six qualifying matches, scheduled for November 18th, the moment when it will be determined whether the Victoretics will ensure participation in the US, Canada and Mexico World Cup in the summer of 2026. Yakin well knows the weight of expectations: “Although many expect a full victory, it is a difficult group”, he stressed, urging the opinion to remain calm despite his optimism.
The coach is aware of the importance of a good start and of the opportunity to secure two home victories -- first against Kosovo and then against Slovenia.
However, he does not view the first match as a classic encounter at home.
According to Yakin, the atmosphere in the stadium may be more balanced: “50”, referring to the shared support between fans of two nationals a situation that has been seen in the previous two matches with Kosovo on Swiss soil.
