Despite earlier warnings and fines, local fans again caused numerous incidents that have put FIFA and UEFA in motion.
Prior to the start of the match, Serbian fans were heard cheering against Kosovo, while a banner with the map of Kosovo covered in the colors of the Serbian flag A harsh act dubbed political provocation appeared in the stands, writes SportsBable.
Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008, is not recognised by Serbia, and FIFA and UEFA have shared the two nationals to avoid such clashes. The intervention of Serbian fans in the issue has caused great anger, especially on social networks, where they have been called for immediate penalties on Serbia.
The incidents were not over. In the second part of the meeting, the game was briefly interrupted after a laser headed to the face of England's defender Ezra Consa. Officials publicly announced to ban the use of lasers and pyrotechnics, but incidents followed.
In the last few minutes, a whistle from the tribuna caused confusion, as players thought the match was over prematurely. Referee Clement Turpin was forced to continue the game for a few seconds, clarifying the situation.
In another development, special police forces were forced to intervene in the stands after fans began singing slogans against the Serbian government. The tense situation within the stadium risks worsening FSS's positions before international football organs.
FIFA and UEFA have not yet reacted officially, but numerous sources report that the Serbian Federation is expected to face:
Partial or complete closure of stadiums in future matches, including the duel with Albania on October 11th;
Monitoring increases in each future international match.
Former renowned judge Keith Hackett told Football Insider: “Laser use is dangerous and unacceptable. FIFA and UEFA will report this as serious violations. ”
Beyond the tensions outside the field, England completely dominated, with goals by Kane, Madweke, Consa, Guehi and Rasford. Serbia ended up with 10 players after the red card for Nikola Milenkovic. England now leads Group K with 7 points more than its closest followers, while Serbia risks sports and disciplinary.
All roads lead to a new punishment for Serbia, which in the past five years has paid over 600,000 pounds in fines for bringing fans. This case, accompanied by political messages, public risks and lack of control, could be among the most serious in the recent history of international football in the region.
