Spain's Football Federation (RFEF) has initiated disciplinary procedure against Gerard Piqué, who is suspected to be involved in a behaviour seen as threatening judges in the Andorra Mirdes match.
According to Judge De Ena Wolfe's report, owner of the Andorra club, Piqué, along with sports director Yaume Nogués and team manager, Carles Manso, allegedly addressed the referaries in the tunnel leading to the dressing room with offensive phrases such as <x0ju homa” and “ir b”. Even forcing the police to intervene.
Procedures initiated by RFEF currently do not result in a direct sanction, but aim to clarify the facts and assess whether a full disciplinary file is needed, Spanish media report.
According to Article 99 of the Discipline Code, insults or offenses against judges or officials may be punished with suspensions of between four and twelve matches, while Article 100 predicts the same punishment for threats or tribulation, with the possibility of quantum criminal acts.
RFEF will continue its investigation to determine whether to open a full investigation or close the case.
If confirmed, the behaviour of Piqué and of the judges involved could result in severe sentences, up to twelve short-game matches, with serious consequences for the club and the image of the Catalonan judge. /Periscopi/
