Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone risks punishment by U The EFA for its behaviour to a Liverpool fan during the 3-2 loss in “Anfield”.
Simeone was punished with red card after Virgil van Dijk's goal, when he blew up a fan. The images showed the Argentinian coach running towards the fan and getting involved in a tense clash.
He was held firmly by stewards and security, while his technical staff did little to calm the situation. The former Lazio midfielder was expelled for his behaviour, which he later admitted as unwarranted “” at the press conference.
Simeone said he had been targeted by “malpractice” and “get” from the tribuna, adding:
I hope that Liverpool will improve that aspect and when the person who did this is identified, there will be consequences. ”

The images showed a Liverpool fan performing gestures against the Atletico bank after the draw goal, but the fan denied saying something insulting.
However, according to U regulation EFA (Nini 63), each player or disfellowshipped official receives an automatic suspension match. Former Judge of UEFA, Eduardo Iturralde Gómez, believes Simeone will also receive a fine.
I think Simeon will get a fine of 20,000 euros, which is the minimum. A match is likely to be suspended, and it will probably remain a match. What does that mean? If repeated within the year, he will also suffer additional ban,”, he said in the El Goruero radio program.
Simeone refused to disclose details of the insults, but said he knew “what happened behind the bank”.
Meanwhile, Johnny Poulter, a fan in the centre of the incident, reacted with a one-minute video on social media calling Simeon <x0, African”).
He said:
I got hundreds of messages on every platform, people ask me what you said, what did he say? I didn't say anything except, hey, fuck off, we've won, as usual. But he did the same for us when they scored. He and his helper, provoking before us. They were normally called with insulting words. ”
Poulter also accused Simeon's assistant coach of <x0ndelling and spit on it” following the distribution of images.
SPORTbable contacted Atletico Madrid for a reaction, but they have not responded.
