Paris star Saint-Germain, Ottoman Dembélé, is still in the seventh heaven after winning the 2025 Golden Ball Award, leaving Lamine Yamal behind.
After months of speculation about which of the two would ascend to the podium in Paris, Dembélé came out victorious after a sensational season in the French capital.
He led P The SG towards a total triumph in the championship and a first historic victory at the UEFA Champions League at “Parc des Princes”, before receiving the prestigious Golden Ball award last week.
Although many in the world of football praised this reward after an extraordinary year, there was a wave of conflicts with Barcelona, which was strongly directed at their former striker.
Lionel Messi agreed to the verdict, but Lamine Yamal's father disagreed, while Neymar Junior went further with the comment on the final ranking: “Raphinha number five is a mockery,” he wrote on social networks.
Following the debate, “France Football” uncovered the final ranking based on the given votes, where Dembélé defeated Yamal by a total 321 points margin.
The Golden Ball is set up by a list of 180 journalists from the 100 highest countries in FIFA rankings that give their votes to top 10 players from the cut list.
Players rank 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points based on the ranking.
Dembélé received 73 votes as the first of 100 judges, while Lamine Yamal received only 11. This huge gap provided the final total: Dembélé with 1,350 points and Lamine Yamal with 1,059 points, the biggest difference between the first country and the second since 2022, when Karim Benzema won 549 points towards Sadio Mané with 193.
In addition to Dembélé and Lamine Yamal, six other players received votes as first elections from France's Football panel, including Vitja with six votes, Mohammed Salah with four and Acraf Hakimi by three.
Real Madrid star Kylian Mbupé, received only one vote as the first choice, like the midfielder of Naples, Scott McTominay, and Dembélé's associate in SPG, Kevitrica Kvaratskhelia.
