Albania defeats Gibraltar in friendly, Asani decides by penalty

Albania's football national has won minimal victories in the friendly match against Gibraltar, held today at the “Europe Stadium Point”. The Reds won by 1:0, thanks to a Yassir Asan goal from the white dot in the 69th minute.

The match, which served as preparation before the resumption of the 2026 World qualifying matches, was marked by a hot game in the first half.

In the second part alone, Albania showed more mobility and riskiness, managing to secure victory with a penalty turned goal.

Albania will play its next match on 9 September against Latvia at the “Air Albania” Stadium, within the framework of the C Group of Eliminators for the World Cup.

After four matches in this group, Albania is in second place with 5 points of victory, two draw and one defeat. The group currently leads England with 9 points out of three matches, followed by Serbia and Latvia by 4 points, while Andorra remains last without a score.

On the other hand, Gibraltar, which is part of the L Qualification Group, remains at no rate after four events were fought. They will face the Faroe Islands on September 8th, while in their group, Chechia leads 9 points, followed by Croatia with 6 points, though by two short matches.
