Albanian National and Rubin Kazani striker Mirlind Daku has become the target of insulting calls by St. Petersburg during the match held on August 12th, in the second round of the Russian Cup group phase.
The meeting, won 3-0 by Zenini, was accompanied by tensions in the tribuna, where part of local fans offended the 27-year-old Albanian.
“The RRF will review the episode with offensive calls from St. Petersburg's Zenit fans to Rubin Kazan's assailant, Mirlind Daku”, declared committee head Arthur Grigoryants of the Russian agency RIA Novosti. He added that the disciplinary meeting will take place on August 20th.
In that confrontation, Daku managed to score a goal, which was cancelled after the VAR intervention.
Ironically, during this summer the attacker was very close to moving St. Petersburg, but eventually he decided to stay with Ruby, who renewed his contract.
The RFU committee is expected to decide whether Zenni will be punished for bringing his fans, while the case has received attention to Russian media, turning the relationship between the Albanian club and player into focus.
