Marseille makes official offer to Edon Zegrov

The latest update, published today in X, confirms that the French club has submitted an important contractual offer to Kosovo's 26-year-old. Talks continue with the aim of finalising the deal.

Zegrov, who joined Leele from Basel in 2022 for 7m euros, has become one of the key figures of Ligue 1 thanks to his skill and talent. Recently, he was praised as the Player of the Champions League, which has further increased his reputation. This season, the side has scored four goals in 12 productions in League 1, with an efficiency of 0.37 goals in 90 minutes, according to FootyStats.

This potential transfer comes at a time when Marseille aims to strengthen the offensive department before participating in the Champions League. The club's pro-active approach reflects a clear strategy to compete at the highest level, despite speculation of possible evacuations, such as that of Jonathan Rowe.

On the other hand, Leell must decide whether to break up with a player who has been crucial to the team, with 43 goals and 31 assistants in 227 career matches.

Marseilles coach Roberto De Zerbe, at Thursday's press conference, said: “He's not yet my player, so I can't talk about him. There's a strong player, as we all know, and if he joins the OM, I'll share my thoughts then”

The transfer saga, reported for the first time two weeks ago, has attracted attention throughout Europe. The current Marseilles transfer record is positive with 15.40m euros, according to Transfermarkt.

If the deal is closed, Zegrov is expected to bring a new dimension to the OM attack, making the team a serious threat to the protections of Ligue 1 during the 2025-2026 season.
