The president of the Republic of Kosovo today has started with a new cycle of consultations regarding the constitution, in light of the Constitutional Court Act in case No. July 12th4/25.
Today, the first meetings were held with the incumbent prime minister at the same time, chairman of Vetevendosje, Mr. Albin Kurti, with Democratic Party of Kosovo chairman Mr. Memli Krasniqi, with the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Mr. Lumir Abdixhiku and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo chairman Mr. Ramush Haradinaj.
The leaders of these parties have presented their positions regarding the process of constitutionalisation of the Parliament, as well as their interpretation of the Constitutional Court Act.
President Osmani has called on leaders to have co-operation and trust, as well as on behalf of civic and state interest, as soon as possible, but by the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court, a reconciliation is reached on the road ahead for the constitution.
As noted in earlier statements, President Osmani considers that the non-compliance of new institutions derived from the will of citizens expressed on February 9th of this year undermines democratic values as well as our state's interests, hinders a set of state benefits that are in the interest of citizens and reduces civic trust in institutions.
President Osmani will continue with consultative meetings with other parties represented in the Assembly over the next few days, in its role as guarantor of constitutional functioning and representative of people unity in the Republic of Kosovo.
