The Albanian national youth team in karate participated in the World Youth Karate League, held in Croatia from 26 June to 29 June.
Albania was represented by four athletes aged 10 to 21, three of the Tirana team and one of the Club “The Eagles” in Lushnje.
Albania's most prominent score came from Amanda Dedey, 14-year-old sport of the “Albanian Bibs” club, which was declared world champion in the category under 52kg.
She held six matches against athletes from different countries, and in the final she defeated 4-0 Serb Neda Maricic, writes. Euronews.al, Transmitt Periscope.
The national team coach, Lirim Dedej, said this gold medal is another testimony to Albanian karate progress, following success in the Balkan and European championships.
He stressed that this outcome further raises the national team's level and gives rise to even greater goals in the future.
Amanda Dedej, now world champion at the age of 14, is aiming at the next Olympic gold medal. /Periscope/
