According to journalist Tony Juanmarti, Rasford has shown a clear preference for Barcelona by rejecting offers from other clubs.

In January 2025, Rasford's representatives met with Barcelona's sports director, Deco, to consider a possible borrowing transfer. However, the deal was not realised due to financial restrictions and internal objections within Barcelona, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.

As a result, Rasford joined Aston Wilan in borrowing, where he contributed four goals and five assistings to 17 presentations before a thigh injury was left out of the field.

Despite his performance, Aston Villa did not seek a permanent deal, in part because he failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Rasford remains determined to join Barcelona. Manchester United is open to sell it for about 40 million pounds to ease the burden from his 350,000 pounds a week.

Barcelona, though interested, may consider only one borrowing agreement because of financial restrictions.
