KDP Chairman Agim Sahini, at the media conference, said they oppose the company's obligation to be supplied from the open energy market up fivefold more expensive than by KEK.
The Kosovar Business Alliance expresses its deep concern over the ZRE's recent decision, which directly charges our businesses with different tariffs. The basic problem is that ZRE's decision will have consequences. The increase in electricity prices of 16.1 percent is a significant increase. The obligation of companies over 50 workers and over 10m euros in annual circulation to be supplied by the open electricity market will be at three to five times more expensive than these businesses can buy from KEK. This situation is unacceptable because it affects competition, significantly increases the cost for businesses, creates inequality and economic discrimination. Our request is the immediate revision of the decision on the mandatory transition of businesses from the current market to the open market, and according to us this is unfair”, Sahin said.
Even the company's representative “Eurometal” demanded immediate suspension of the open energy market decision, calling it wrong and harmful for producers.
The key to energy liberalisation is not to create monopoly and have more favourable conditions for businesses, especially producers. However, energy liberalisation in Kosovo, we as businesses are extremely damaging. We as a company have contracts four to five years, which we do not know how we will function after June 1st. The conditions they have made: the number of workers and circulation is just laying aside some companies for manipulation”, the representative of “Eurometal” said.
While businessman Naim Dedushaj from the Albanian diaspora business network requested that global changes be taken into account and businesses be helped to remain competitors.
“Who has made this decision on the matter? The global situation has already changed, especially with the arrival of the new US president. Business needs to be helped before a decision is made so that these too are competitive. The energy tariff has grown a lot and we are now in question. Companies move from Kosovo and deploy to the region. Let us hear these voices, consider these questions”, Dedushaj said.
