The Italian government has expressed its readiness to transfer the severely injured boy to Italy for treatment”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that the possibility of procedure is currently under consideration, reports Italian media.
The boy, Adam Al-Najjar, is in critical condition at Nasser Hospital, one of the few health institutions still operating in the southern Gaza Strip after an Israeli attack on his home on May 25th killed his nine brothers and sisters. Father was also seriously injured.
Adam's parents are doctors. Father Hamdi Al-Najar was at home with his children at the time of the attack and was also seriously injured. He is being treated in the same hospital as Adam, and his mother, Ala, works in that hospital.
Adam's uncle, Ali Al-Najjar, told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that the 11-year-old boy has burns in his body, injuries on his head, a broken left arm and cannot walk, and that Nasser Hospital has no conditions needed to treat him.
It must be transferred immediately to a real hospital outside the Gaza Strip. I ask the Italian government to do something, let them take it, let the Italians save”, he said.
