Kashmir, one of the most dangerous and hot spots in the world, is partly controlled by India and Pakistan, but both countries claim it in its entirety, reports CNN, broadcast Periscope.
The two armed rivals with nuclear weapons have fought three wars for mountainous territory that is now divided by a de facto border called the (LOC) Control Line since their independence from Britain nearly 80 years ago.
Tensions escalated again after armed men massacred 26 civilians in Pahalgam, India-controlled Kashmir last month, in the deadliest attack on Indians in recent years.
India has accused Pakistan of involvement in the raid on Pahalgam a claim Islamabad denies. Pakistan has offered a neutral investigation into the incident.
The massacre immediately caused widespread anger in India, and Prime Minister Narendra Moday had been under tremendous pressure to retaliate.
In the days following the attack on Pahalgam, the two countries quickly reduce relations with each other and have since committed themselves to escalation of hostilities “to teeth”.
India ordered its citizens to return from Pakistan, closed a significant border crossing and suspended its involvement in a key water-sharing treaty that has been in force since 1960.
Pakistan suspended trade with India and expelled Indian diplomats. He said any attempts to stop or divert Pakistan's water belonging to would be considered a <x0-second war”.
Both countries have also closed airspace for each other.
New Delhi and Islamabad had also shown their military power as tensions raged along the LOC with small fire exchanges along the demarcation in recent days. Both sides have also closed their air spaces for each other's airlines.
