Ronaldo, 40, is contract-free with Al Nasr on June 30th, and after losing 3-2 to Al Fateh in the last season match at Saudi Pro League, he hinted he could leave the club.
Portuguese published a photo with the inscription: “This chapter ended. History? Still writing. Grateful for everything. ”
This statement came just days after FIFA President Gianni Infantino suggested Ronaldo could play the World Cup for Club this summer, despite Al Nassr not participating in competition.
“Ranaldo can play for either of the World Cup teams for Club,” said Infantino last week.
There are some clubs holding talks, so if any club is listening to us and he's interested in bringing Ronaldo... who knows?
Ronaldo has been linked to possible transfers to MLS, Brazil and even a return to his childhood club, Sporting.
But in the afternoon Friday (May 30th), journalist Santi Auna gave an update on Ronaldo's future through X (ish-Titter):
“Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Al Nasr,” he wrote.
The agreement has been fully reached between the parties.
Saudi sources told us he has already signed the new contract with Al Nasr. ”
Despite Al Nasr's age and lack of success this season, Ronaldo's influence in the club and Saudi football has been remarkable.
Ronaldo ended up being the best league scorer with 25 goals three more than the English assailant of Al-Ahli, Ivan Toney.
However, Ronaldo is no longer the one who used to be ignored. When can I hang my shoes on the nail?
He has issued various statements during his career on the retirement issue, but in an interview for Portuguese Television Nowe in 2024, he said:
I don't know if I'm gonna retire soon, maybe after two or three years, but maybe I'm gonna retire here at Al Nassr.
I'm happy at this club, I feel good in this place. I'm happy to play Saudi Arabia and I want to continue. ”
