It was May 13, 2016, when our country received the second great news after that admission to UEFA several days earlier.
And, the Kosovo Football Federation, led by legend Fadil Vokry at the time, ended long-term isolation and became a full-fledged member of the world's largest football organisation.
Today, the current head of NFF, Agim Ademi, through the Federation official page, gave him a few words for this anniversary.
“9 years of pride in the large world football family FIFA. Today we mark one of the most important dates in our history of sport and statehood May 13th 2016, the day Kosovo officially became part of FIFA at the congress held in Mexico. It has been nine years since that historic event, which remains deep in the memory of every man who believed and contributed to this dream. This journey began under difficult circumstances, with bold steps and many sacrifices. From the visionary work of Agim Bytyqi and his associates at the time of the occupation, to the steadfast resistance under the direction of Rexhep Abdullah, then the survival of football under the leadership of Sabri Hashan and to the glorious period of internationalisation with Legedad Fadil Vokrri at the top of all these stages built the powerful foundations on which our football stands today. After nine years as an equal member of the largest world football family, Kosovo has become a success story. With U's support The FIFA EFA and with the diligent commitment of all FFK structures, we have managed to develop football at all levels from age groups to women's football, modern infrastructure and professional standards. This day is also a moment of reflection and gratitude for all who contributed footballers, trainers, club leaders, managers, donors and international partners over the years. A special thanks to FIFA President Gianni Infantino for his continued and sincere support of our country. I am especially honored that today, at this important anniversary, I am in Paraguay to represent Kosovo at the 75th FIFA Congress, a moment that well reflects our extraordinary journey and the well-deserved position we have won on the international football scene. On behalf of the FFK Executive Committee, I wish the entire football community and Kosovo citizens for this particular anniversary. Unitedly, we will continue to build a strong Kosovo in the green field and beyond. We continue with pride and responsibility for football together! ”
