May 5th, Witness Day, honor for heroes who fought for their homeland

On this day, there are many names of all time remembered with gratitude not only for the eternal values and the contribution they contributed to the country's release for a better future, but also all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom, democracy, human rights and the dignity of every Albanian.

The mark of this event of importance goes on May 5, 1942, when Kemal Stafa was killed, who, with his activity, became a symbol of the National Liberation Antiphasist War.

After declaring Independence in 1912 until 1945, the Albanian state did not create a legal status for the martyrs of Homeland. During the National Liberation War, early efforts are launched to honour the martyrs fallen in the battlefields. After the liberation, on August 28, 1945, the headship of the Nationalist Anti-fascist Council adopted law No. 109 “Mby the reward of families of the martyrs and disabled of the Nationalist War Antiphascrimist”.

This law sanctioned the treatment of the families of patriots who had fought for their homelands even before the National Anti-fascist War, in the time of the National Renaissance, in the wars for independence, thus marking the first attempt at an integral law for the martyrs of the Homeland, broadcast Clankosova.tv.

In the time of communism, May 5 became a tradition. It was a marked day! The distinctive front of this day constituted visits to the cemetery of the National-Crime Antiphyst War martyrs and visits to the families of martyrs. Gravestones of martyrs were built in every center of the circle. Albania, in addition to the 26 that were in the district centres, had two more, quite special, belonging to two martyred villages -- the Kuci of Kurvelesh and Peza of Tirana. While the latter humbled themselves and honored the entire leadership of the party and state, on both May 5th and September 16th, the day of the Peza Conference in Kuc, the village school students and the families of the martyrs went as a rule.

In honour of the memory of the fall for the country's freedom each year in the Witnesses' cemetery are conducted homazhe by the highest leaders of the Albanian state each year. To this day, there are prayers in honor of them. /Periscope/
