Thaci case and others: Until now, 125 witnesses testified, 117 written witnesses were accepted

In the trial chamber of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague, 125 witnesses of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office have so far testified, while the testimony of 117 others was written in the case of Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. Of these 117 evidence, 76 of them are accepted under the 153 Rule, which envisions that witness testimony has not been directly with the alleged behavior of the accused in this case, reports “Justice Vow “, Periscope.
While 41 evidence has been accepted according to Rule 155, which envisions that a witness can be accepted in writing when a witness is not available or if he has died or his testimony has been influenced by any interventions such as threats, intimidation, injury, payment delivery, and others.
This was confirmed by DPS spokesman Michael Doyle at Thursday's weekly conference, who said that in this case it was also planned to witness 126th witness, but that he did not appear, and the prosecution has announced that I will submit his testimony to be written.
In addition, Doyle recalled that earlier, the SPS has announced that by April 15th it is intended to close its case. While, since the Prosecutor's Prosecution has more witnesses, the conference on the progress of the case is scheduled for April 23rd 2025.
Doyle indicated that after the prosecution closes the presentation of its evidence, the defence could file motions to drop any charges or even all charges in the indictment.
Depending on the decision regarding these motions, the defender of the victims will have the opportunity to call his witnesses. According to Doyle, there are over 150 victims in this case who are of different nationalities.
Doyle also indicated that after that, defence teams will have the opportunity to call their witnesses if they want to.
In this case, Doyle indicated that some evidence has been accepted and some have been rejected, for which the prosecution had submitted the motion. This is about the Pacific Operative Zone. Also, according to him, material evidence has accepted a media interview and the forehead of three books dealing with the authenticity of a volume that was previously presented as evidence.
The spokesman also indicated that on March 27th and April 1st 2025, the prosecution has handed in the versions with fewer revisions of three court transcripts related to the testimony of three witnesses at the February sessions.
He also spoke of the case of Peter Shala, of whom Appeal has assigned May 15th and 16th for hearings, and showed that the panel has refused a defence motion to call a witness and to accept notes and interviews with this witness in other court cases.
