South American CONMEBOL has officially proposed that the World Cup for the 100th anniversary in 2030 be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with 64 participating teams with an idea that has been rejected by several other continental confederations.
The upcoming tournament, held in 2026 in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, will have 48 teams of growth compared to 32 in 2022.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, speaking of a select group of journalists during the Forum 1 race in Jedda, said his country would have no objection to increasing the number of teams for 2034.
We're ready, or we'll be ready, Inshallah. If this is a decision FIFA makes and considers right for everyone, then we are more than happy to make it, he said.
He cited the already existing infrastructure for Muslim pilgrims, citing the fact that this Ramadan, four million people participated in Umre in Mecca, and five million are expected for Haxhi.
FIFA officially declared Saudi Arabia to be a 2034 men's World Cup organiser in December. /Periscopi/
