Inter's house fight against Rome has been officially postponed for Sunday, April 27, due to the national mourning day announced for Pope Francis' funeral.
This happened despite earlier speculation that Lega Serie A could make an exception to holding the meeting Saturday so that Inter would not waste valuable time before facing the semi-finals of the Champions League against Barcelona.
Italian Minister for Civil Protection and Marine Policy Nello Musumeci announced on Tuesday morning that Saturday's matches would not be held, after confirming that Pope Francis's funeral, which passed Monday, would be held the same day in Rome.
This decision led to the postponement of three 35th week matches in Serie A, which were scheduled for that day: Como-Genoa, Inter-Roma, and Lazio-Parma.
However, this solution caused debate, especially for the Inter match, as moving to Sunday would allow very little time for recovery for Wednesday's crucial challenge in Champions.
A compromise was described in which the match was held on Saturday but with a schedule postponed from 1600 to 20:45.
However, the situation changed Tuesday evening when Lega Serie A officially announced that Inter-Roma will be played Sunday at 1500./Periscopi/
