LDK: Vetevendosje does not have numbers, is hiding behind procedural acrobatics

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has reacted after the next failure of the Kosovo Assembly Constitution. “Today, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo failed for the third time in a row to constitute, confirming once again that the Vetevendosje Movement does not have the parliamentary majority needed to form the country's new institutions. “Today, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo failed for the third time in a row to constitute, confirming once again that the Vetevendosje Movement does not have the parliamentary majority needed to form the country's new institutions. Likewise, the second attempt to elect the Speaker of the Parliament ended in failure, stressing that neither political markets nor procedural violations can replace democratic legitimacy and the real will of deputies elected by citizens”, it says in response.
Kosovo's Democratic League reaffirms its clear position: First, accepting verbal resignations by members of the government certified as deputies by the Commission for the Verification of Quorum and Mandata has paved the way for the formal framework of IX Legislate. Second, the LDK has been and remains steadfast in its stance not to participate in any process that violates constitutional order, democratic procedures and parliamentary free will. Third, any government official who has sworn in as deputy must know that any executive decision by March 27th conflicts with the law, and the LDK is convinced that it constitutes criminal offenses therefore and needs to be investigated. Fourth, despite continued efforts to influence the will of MPs through questionable pressures and calculations, reality is clear”, said in response.
” Vetevendosje does not have numbers. And that fact cannot be concealed behind procedural aerobatics or parliamentary improvisements. Fifth, anyone who claims to rule the country must provide a minimum of 61 votes. Any attempt to push ahead with the political agenda without this majority represents violating democracy and violating the rules of parliamentary game”, said further in response. /Periscope/
