It has been repatriated to the country of origin from the Development Centre in Gander, the first foreign immigrant to remain at this facility, established within the framework of the co-operation agreement between Italy and Albania to manage irregular immigration.
According to official sources, the repatriated citizen is a 42-year-old native of Bangladesh who had entered Italian territory in 2009. Italian authorities established his deportation because of the high social risk it posed. He was previously convicted of several criminal acts, including a serious case of domestic violence.
Following the necessary legal procedures and keeping it at the Gajdra Centre, it has been deported towards the country of origin.
Regarding this development, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Pietados has reacted through a post at X, which describes this as an important step in the fight against illegal immigration.
The first repatriation from Albania of a foreign citizen at the Gjader Rhyathing Centre. Reportation operations of irregular immigrants will continue in the coming days, as envisioned by the government's strategy for a more effective action to combat illegal immigration”, Pietedos said.
