E The new pope must be chosen by the highest officials of the Catholic Church, known as the College of Cardinals.
All men are directly appointed by the pope, and bishops are usually disfigured, and Telegram broadcast.
Currently there are 252 Catholic cardinals, 135 of whom have the right to vote for the new pope.
Others are over 80, which means they cannot participate in the elections, even though they may join the debate on who should be elected. /Periscopi
