Biserko: Youth in Serbia knows Kosovo is independent é Vuciqi wanted to declare a state of emergency

In mass protests under way from November last year against the Allexandar Vuciqi regime in Serbia, a flag with the map of the Republic of Kosovo is often seen, and with the inscription “It's a dropout”. Meanwhile, members of paramilitary units such as the notorious “Red Beret”, which is responsible for crimes against humanity and war crimes in Kosovo, have appeared just these days in front of the president's Belgrade office, with the idea of protecting him and his supporters.

They have even shown themselves to be violent toward the other bowl, which includes students and opposition.

But, not a few army veterans and other Serb paramilitary units -- who were active during the Kosovo war -- stood up for those protesting.

The leader of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Belgrade, Sonja Biserko, says the new generations protesting against Vuciqi's 13-year-old power, and the mafia-corruption system that he, according to them, leads Vuciqi, have led him and his power to delegate.

Because most in Serbia have been of the opinion that these new generations are not interested in politics and that they expect to complete their studies and go abroad. What they say about Kosovo is something they grew up with. This is propaganda that dominates the formation of these young people”, Biserko told Klan Kosova, broadcasts Periscope.

She says youth, but many other citizens in Serbia already fully realise that Kosovo is an independent state.

The key thing is to say that most citizens in Serbia have the same report as Vladimir Putin and Russia, at the same time they go to the West. This is a very schizophrenic situation. Even youth know that Kosovo is not actually Serbia. But among them are people with right-hand orientation and right-wing groups. But it is not that they dominate these protests”, she further expressed herself.

But, Biserko says the major change in Serbia in terms of changing approach to Kosovo is difficult. This is about the fact that society in this state has been full of propaganda since the time of Slobodan Milosevic.

Now this is a process that we'll see how it goes. Nowhere does it go lightly, and it is not expected to provide answers to all issues Serbia must face. It needs to be looked into the mirror so they can understand all that has happened in the last 40 years, and what impact it has had in the region”, Biserko said.

In fact, the current power has no intention of changing the mind of Kosovo, and not only. Vuciq and others in Beorgad continue to think about wars and are preparing for them.

Serbia signed military co-operation deals with Hungary a few days ago, this member of the European Union and NATO.

This is seen as countering Belgrade's memorandum for co-operation in the field of defence and security that Kosovo, Albania and Croatia made in Tirana.

This is a response to what was signed. Vuciqi and Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban, have close reports. That's where Dodik comes in. But I think that on the political line, Dodik is politically dead, soon so will Vuciqi himself, because how he is reacting to protests and other things, this only promotes other student reactions. He's totally deregulating, society is on edge, and nothing is working”, point Sonja Biserko in the interview for Klan.

In fact, Vuciqi and his powers, if they have denied, have been charged that during the protests against him, they used unique illegal weapons to harm students and the opposition. One of them was the most vocal ball, allegedly activated on March 15th, in the largest controversial campaign against governance with the state ever in Serbia

Biserko believes Vucinqi had a dark plan against those protesting him.

The March “15 has been a kind of critical date, given what happened and could happen. Because Vuciki had prepared the scenario that would have to produce conflict that would enable him to declare the state of emergency. But that didn't become a reality”, Biserko said.

The reason Serbia has entered this period of unrest and tensions is that on November 1, 2024, concrete shelter fell at the Novi Sad Train Station, which killed 16 people.

Power said that in the shelter that fell, no work had been conducted over the years, but field experts and the Serbian opposition argued otherwise. That's exactly what became the reason for more massive anti-Vucciq protests. /Periscope/
