Barcelona may not have imagined where they would be at this stage of the season when last season ended. While there are some factors that have contributed to their success, a name is the visible architect of their progress: Hansie Flick.
Currently, Barcelona is marking at the record rate, playing well at all three main competitions and beating Real Madrid twice this season.
This happened, although only two players, Pau Victor and Danny Olmo, were added to Barcelona's team during the summer, and for many, this team needed some major changes. But although all of this seems like a preparation phase, the results and style of the game show Barcelona has reached a new level under German coach's direction.
For this reason, it is no surprise Barcelona is interested in continuing the contract with Hansie Flick. The German coach had signed a two - year contract when he arrived in Barcelona, and now the Catalan club wants to expand it by 2027, with the possibility of an extra year. However, to ensure that both sides can mutually secede if the situation changes, a contract-breaking clause will be included in the agreement, broadcast Periscope.
According to the Catalan newspaper, SportsSome of the club's leading leaders, including President Joan Laporta and Football Director Deco, have met with Flick's agent, Pini Zahawi, to discuss the possibility of renewing his contract. This meeting was meant to express the club's intentions to keep Flick, and they have expressed a desire to finalise a new agreement before the season is concluded, giving the coach the opportunity to continue leading the team.
Flick has exceeded all expectations that were for him, and besides some young players like Lamine Yamal and Pedri, he is obviously one of Barcelona's most valuable assets currently. While, of course, trainers can be replaced, the level of game the team is showing is much higher than anything that has been seen in Barcelona for at least six years.
With such a record, and Barcelona competing at high levels in all competitions, renovation of Hansi Flick's contract would be a natural step to ensure a successful future for the Catalan club.
