The Kosovo racer was defeated by Georgian Lasha Shavdatwashvili in a maratonic mass.
Despite the loss, however, Achilles will have another chance.
He will look for the medal through the review, where he will first face Hungarian Daniel Szegedi.
Gjakova had spent her first circuit in the category of up to 73kg without a fight, while in the second, he defeated Frenchman Maxime Gobert.
On the third lap, he won against Moldovan Victor Sterpu, to stop later in the quarterfinals.
However, Achilles will target at least the bronze European medal if he proves successful in the review.
