The German government's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, has called for the quickest establishment of the new government in Kosovo, following the February 9th elections.
In an interview for DW in the Serbian-Croat language, the German diplomat said it is not up to others to decide how the government in Kosovo will be formed.
“We need to wait and see how the political situation in the Republic of Kosovo will develop. It would be desirable for a government to form as soon as possible and the new government to actively engage in dialogue. Of course, we expect that from Serbia as well. However, it is not up to us to decide how the process of forming government in the Republic of Kosovo will continue. This is a decision made by Kosovo”, said the German government's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.
Meanwhile, he has also talked about the new EU emissar for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen, of whom he said he would put new emphasis on dialogue.
“With Peter Sorensen, the new EU special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, we have a new person who will continue to lead this process in the name of the EU. Our first conversations made a very good impression on him as a person. He will certainly put a new emphasis on dialogue, while at the same time he will try to make progress through basic work to reach progress in the approach of the two countries”, Sarrazzin said in this interview, Klankosova.tv broadcast.
He said that in the past, Germany and himself, he has been tasked with supporting the work of European institutions and chief EU negotiator. “We will work closely together in the coming weeks and months. This will certainly apply to the new German government. Because Germany supports the European approach to dialogue and people leading it”.
“I hope that now the essential work on solutions will start again. It's time to work hard to find concrete solutions. I believe Mr. Sorensen is the right person for this task”, potential Sarrazuz.
